The hub

People

Accounts, invite links, and what "removed" actually means — measured in hours, not in clicks.

A workspace has accounts. People → Add someone, or send an invite link.

Adding someone

Two ways, both in the console's People view:

  • Add someone — you set the address, an initial password and a role. They sign in immediately.
  • Invite by link — you set the address and a role, and the hub gives you a single-use link that expires. They pick their own password.

The hub does not send email. There is no SMTP configuration to find: it hands you the link and you deliver it however you already talk to that person. That is a deliberate omission — mail is a dependency, a deliverability problem and a new failure mode, in an image every self-hoster pulls. A link you can see is more honest than a "sent!" you cannot verify.

Roles

admin and member. Admins manage people; members work on the project. There is no third role, and adding one is a bigger change than it looks — the role vocabulary is shared with the session layer, and a role the matrix does not recognise gets nothing.

Read-only access is a property of a session, not a role.

Peer tokens are a different thing

The Tokens view mints peer tokens — a credential for a teammate with a git clone, pasted into their terminal by maude design link. It is not an account and it does not belong to a person.

If you want someone to sign in and work in the browser, you want People.

Offboarding, and what it actually does

Disabling an account:

  • revokes every credential it holds
  • kicks live sessions immediately — "disabled" means out now, not "cannot log in again"

The Sessions column shows how many live credentials an account holds, which is the number that answers did the offboard take effect.

One caveat worth knowing before you rely on it: a session token is verified offline, so a hub that is up keeps honouring an already-issued token until it expires. Disable revokes and kicks, which closes it in practice — but if you are removing someone under pressure, rotate HUB_SECRET too.

When People is not there

If the console shows no People view, this project takes its members from Maude Cloud and the dashboard owns them. That is the hosted product; nothing here applies.
